Based on conversations in Discord, here's the general party layout we've come up with:
In the demo:
Joins Later:
In addition, we're not going to have a solid "main character" sort of thing. Instead of referring to MC or something, we'll refer to their element. So "The Mercury Adept" would be used, for example. Main reason is because we may have a party leader swaping mechanic and might make choices in design that may not work if we single out one main character (ex: picking male or female at start), so for now use terms like "Starter Duo" so things don't devolve into mechanics debates.
We can develop these characters further - the more we learn about their personalities, the more we can have their classes reflect this, too. If you've got some ideas, pitch them.
In the demo:
- Talia - Female Mercury Caster
- Occupation: Merchant (in training), Cartographer
- Psynergy Form: Unknown at the time
- Controller Role (Indirect Offense) in base class
- Personality: Calculating due to her history with handling money and plotting courses. Tactician type who usually thinks things through before approaching them. Indecisive when presented with too many options, can often get caught up in minute details. Has a sense of wanderlust for new locales and treasures.
- History: Grew up in port city and currently works with parents under a decently large trading company. Family has history of being Mercury adepts, training in the art to navigate the waters with ease. Port city holds festival and trial every 4 or so years commemorating god of storms (water and air combination). During the trial events caused by antagonist organization (my name: the Crescent Company) lead to storms without respite in the seas ruining the livelihood of everyone in her hometown and putting them in danger. Sets out to fix this problem with Jupiter Adept.
- Zach - Male Jupiter Warrior
- Occupation: Farmhand/Farmer
- Psynergy Form:
- Protector Role (Direct Defense) in base class
- Personality: Jupiter is a young man with a kindhearted and responsible nature. He means well to everyone he meets, and he wants the best for everybody. The one thing that Jupiter holds close to him more than anything is his family. He wants to do his best to help and protect them in any way he can; another reason he decided to develop his psynergy skills even further. He also is about getting things done. He never slouches or procrastinates when it comes to anything. He does, however, act on impulse a lot. Jupiter tends to keep his focus on the simple things rather than look at the bigger picture. Because of this, he always has things oversimplified, and is often unaware on how his actions can affect a situation overall. Jupiter is also one that you do not want to get angry. He rarely does, but when he is it is like a raging typhoon: A storm that’s near impossible to stop. The only true ways to make Jupiter angry are to mistreat or threaten his friends or family, and will protect them with all of his strength if he has too.
- History: Jupiter is an 18 year old boy that lives on a farm outside of town. He is the eldest son out of his 5 other siblings, 2 boys and 3 girls. Jupiter has helped out on the farm since he was young, and usually would help his parents with any heavy lifting, such as moving hay bales and the like. He often runs errands in the nearby town to buy supplies for the farm. 2 years ago, his as his father received an injury on his right leg which left him crippled. In order for him to walk, he needed a cane. After his father's unfortunate injury, Jupiter’s workload increased. He handled it all with the utmost conviction and dedication and with the hard farm work over the years, Jupiter gained a rather slender but muscular build.
Jupiter’s family are all aligned with the element of Jupiter. This also helps out on the farm greatly, as Jupiter can use the power of wind to sweep up any stray crops on the lying on the field, clean up hay scattered in the barn, etc. It also can help to avoid potentially dangerous storms that would ruin crops and livestock.
