I think we should pin a post in this board to let new (and current) artists know how to develop a sprite now that we have made this decision. How do you all feel about that? I'm talking about something like a guide post, with "steps" to know and start developing sprite art. For example, daiset idea of having a base skeleton as well as Nubbly experience could make a good start.

I support Ndr's idea of making a guide for new and currents artists. I had a rough time trying to replicate and imitate the feel of Nub's sprite, not to mention the color palette. Once we figure out all the technical stuff I think we should work on some sort of guide for making new sprites.

I'd love to get a better standard set for the art team as far as a direction in art/sprite style. It was something we discussed briefly last week in the meeting and it would be beneficial. I'll try to figure out a good way to word technical stuff and share it with the team and go from there. And also get input from the rest of the art team on how they feel since we are working with various levels of experience. :-)
Depending on the availability of some past pixel artist colleagues I might see about talking with them too and getting their input and help on laying out some guide, but since they're busy bodies as well it might take a minute. Though I put full trust in their experience and input after working with them for many years. :-) I know we talked about working more on worldbuilding for the first part of the year so hopefully that's okay.
