This will be the basis for his backstory. Every pitch is still subject to change as the writing team will be revising the winning one to polish it up but these are your options. Due to multiple requests this poll will last a full 24 hours. You're welcome. Please read every pitch through completely before you make your decision. We have double the submissions this time compared to the submissions for Talia so there's quite a bit to read. I look forward to reviewing the results. :] docs.google.com/document/d/1agFhSmRCTPwKxvA5aXH4HWwc8WIasqC8vfgPU4U3qZs/edit?usp=sharing

A little question: how exactly will the backstories be provided in the game? Flashbacks? Gradual suggestions? A prologue? Or just some trivia like Dark Dawn's weyardex?

I think a small prologue similar to GS1's intro can work to show off their basic backstories (Talia is a merchant on a ship; jupiterboy is a steadfast and kind farmer guy)
Like, you help out on the farm a little as jupiterboy (both winning options have the farm so I'm including it xd) before he receives the request to go to the port town with the trial (perhaps this introduces a player to using wind psynergy for mundane things - like getting rid of shrubs with cyclone in TLA)
Then the perspective switches to Talia who arrives at the port and is preparing for her trial - they end up meeting up a little bit before the trial starts, and done, you have your opening segment.
The more in depth stuff can be stuck away in something like npc dialogue or diaries. Like, you go to his home town at some point and are able to rummage around his room a bit or talk to the townfolk that mentions small things about him here and there.

that is a neat idea. it might make the intro to the demo really long but i like it.

Psynergy Tools don't care about element. Have his Pa give him the Catch Beads to go farm some stuff on the farms. Doubles as a fun reference to the original games, where you got the Catch Beads in the starting town.

It'd be cool to have a sort of tutorial section on the farm, learning to use the Psyenergy moves in a non-combat enviroment would make a cool opening.

Showing the user how carrot psynergy magic-energy that thing works in the real world and for mundane things gives it sort of a sense of what purpose it is serves. I don't like to thing about that as a weapon, and if we try to make the world have "magical" touches, this would fit as well to give a cohesive look on everything.

thats exactly what golden sun did when isaac fixed his roof at the beginning of gs1. sure you can use badass spell but you can fix a roof too. it has real world applications
