So, after a bit of thought about the battle theme and where to take it, there are a few possible ideas that could be done to the theme to make it more unique in battle. Here are the options you could choose:
A) The battle theme could carry out as normal the whole way through, without any changes to it when characters interact or die,
B) Certain parts of the melody could be replaced with an alternate melody (likely lower in pitch) when that character dies, or
C) Parts of the melody specific to the character would be flat-out removed when they die.
I have hopefully linked a poll in this thread, please vote for which option you like best, or if you have another idea, state it below.

Could it be possible to have a melody with a base and the same number of instruments as the mc in the battle, and when a character faint, turn of that melody? It sound crazy, but i think that could be neat, so as long you are losing, music is going more quiet, and when you comeback, the music gets the instruments it lost. Plus, a more quiet tense battle adds to drama (?)

this whole thing really reminds me of the note system in mother 3 and how each character had a specific instrument that would play when they landed combos

I think it would be best to stick with what is simple and works for now, and maybe revisit this idea in project echo. Not only would this overcomplicate audio handling and make composing take even longer, but FreeJustice is probably the only one who would be able to pull it off well. I mean I can barely make something that sounds good without these added complications

Yeah, I love the idea for an Echo, but for now the most I'd suggest is different battle themes for major regions of the game. It's a really cool idea, it's just... I can't imagine it'd be easy to pull off.

I really like the idea of having parts of the melody removed when party members die, I think that's really dynamic and interesting. I don't think I've seen an RPG do that before, so it'd be unique!

Poll is now locked. Looks like we could be going with melodies that get outright removed when assigned character dies
I think the biggest concern right now is that it will be too complex, and that it will just over-complicate the music. However, I feel like it shouldn't be too difficult at all. The only added layer of difficulty is recording the specific tracks separate from each other and layering each recording. Recording any combination of tracks is not a problem on my end, as FL studio lets me mute the tracks at will, so the only harder part is having melodies that mute when CHARACTER DIES, and unmute when CHARACTER REVIVED.
If it does flop, we've got a fully loaded battle theme already so

Audio sources + Mixers will be our friends to mute/unmute/change volume of the tracks in realtime :).
