So this is simple enough - the question of whether: - A) We use the Golden Sun soundfont to try and imitate the sound of those games, potentially at the risk of copyright infringement
- B) We use a better, higher quality soundfont, potentially with more instruments (give electric guitar pls)
- C) We opt for both, limiting the music we make by what sounds good in both soundfonts, but allowing the player to choose which they think sounds best
Personally I'd choose C (because I really want electric guitars, see the Xenoblade song inspirations on the playlist for why), however since we don't have any particular soundfont we've agreed on for options B & C, it would be nice if we could get some discussion going on what non-GS soundfont we should pick. The poll will close this time in 1 week's time. Also, if those more experience with music theory than myself want to, this would be the place to decide on if there are a particular set of scales we need to stick to or whatever. Anything that you'd class as Musical style.

I really would like to see some track with golden sun feeling (same scales/modes) with high quality instruments but with an imitation of the classic GS soundfont in the background as a referecence/easter egg. I think it would sound really cool.

I'd base it on the GS soundfont, but use a higher quality version of it, with some expanded options. We want to be similar to, but not limited by, right?

I think having a mix of the GS SoundFont (but, y'know, enhanced) and some other instruments will work just fine, so I think C is really the best option.

Option C all the way. You get the best of both worlds, and cosidering your ability you could create some really sick tracks.

Considering I have a VST with the original sounds used for GS but in higher quality, C would be the way to go. If you have like an FL project file, I could record it through there too
